Becoming an intentional shopper
The most sustainable choice you can make is choosing something that’s already in your wardrobe. But if you decide to shop make it an intentional purchase decision. Don’t let the ‘too good to miss’ discounts or sales get to you. Often, if you didn’t want to buy something when it was full price, you probably don’t need it.
Being an intentional shopper is not about taking the fun out of shopping. Rather, it’s about asking yourself if you really need something and if the answer is YES, then it’s about having fun finding the best version of that item.
Consider the items you already have in your wardrobe and if the item you’re thinking about purchasing will go well with those. Is this an investment piece that will stand the test of time, or is it a seasonal trend that will be dated by next year? If it’s the latter, you might want to reconsider the purchase.
When you shop with intention, you can invest in better quality products whilst not wasting money on throwaway items or clothes you aren’t going to absolutely love wearing.
Fashion is so individual and it’s important to buy the items that you can’t stop thinking about, the ones that you know you’re going to feel great in and will give you that pep-in-your-step kind of feeling. When you shop with intention you will love every item in your wardrobe – making getting dressed each day a pleasure.
As our founder Jenny Johnston says “At The SUSS Edit, we believe in buying better and buying less. That’s why we create high quality pieces that are designed to last. When you invest in quality pieces, they will stay in your wardrobe forever and you will always love wearing things that brought you so much joy to buy”.
